Born in 1987 to Kimberly and Craig Moore of Indianapolis, LaShonda Sue
Moore, better known as Shonda Sue, knew from an early age what she wanted
to do with her life. Her career as an entertainer began at age 8 when she
first sang at the Morgan County Fair. She wanted to sing and her parents
didn't have to push her into it. In fact there were many times, according
to her mother, she had to ask LaShonda to stop practicing and get her
homework done.
LaShonda took a big leap forward when she recorded her first Nashville
project, Girl Thang, in 2001. The album featured five originals she
selected from more than 300 choices along with five cover songs. The
following year, May 2002, the single "Live While I Can" from her Girl
Thang album was released on a compilation CD by Comstock Records. The song
was her first to hit the airwaves in Europe and Australia. The release led
to requests for her entire "Girl Thang" album and other tracks began
playing overseas.
The year 2002 proved exciting with the release of two more albums on her
own independent label, SPirit Productions Studio, a joint venture with her
grandfather Paul Youkey. Christmas with Shonda Sue and Shonda Sue LIVE!
2002 Favorites became albums four and five on her growing roster of
recordings.
Now 18, LaShonda has released nine independent label projects since she
started singing at age eight. LaShonda Sue Moore Live! 2005
Favorites was just released in the spring of 2006. Her most recent
albums have featured music performed at fairs and festivals throughout
Indiana. Also in her discography are a Christmas album (2202) and a
2003 contemporary Christian/Gospel CD. A new Christian project is
also in it's early stages, with a few songs already recorded and the four
song demo just released in May 2006.
"I started singing country music when I was eight... and some gospel
too," LaShonda said. "Over time I felt the desire to lean
more to Christian music and last year made the decision to focus primarily
on this genre, -singing at Church camps, revivals, festivals, wherever the
opportunity comes."
In the early winter of 2005, LaShonda also began working with Onehalfforgotten, a band from Indianapolis, that performs Christian rock LaShonda and Onehalfforgotten have set out to find opportunities to perform together in 2006.
"I am so excited about working with the band. They are a huge part of my life now, and I've gotten real close with them all," relayed LaShonda. "We are looking forward to the opportunity to serve the Lord through music, to show people - especially youth - that there is hope in Jesus Christ.
LaShonda said her parents have been very influential, making sure she stayed grounded in her faith. Both of them are very involved in their church. Her father is the Youth Pastor of Speedway General Baptist Church where they have been members for 18 years, and both Craig and Kimberly are members of the choir. LaShonda is active in Sunday School, Bible study and youth group activities.
"I feel the mission of my music is to touch and change lives around the world through song. Performing is my passion, but I first see myself as a follower of Christ. I strive to bring others to Christ and music is a great catalyst for that". LaShonda explains. "During the rough spots in my life I have always been able to count on Jesus to help me. That is part of the message I want people to hear through my music."
LaShonda performs at fairs, festivals, corporate and private events,
including weddings, church camps and revivals. As far as where her career
takes her, she is letting the Lord guide her steps because she knows He is
the one who gave her the talent she wants to share with music lovers
around the world. To book LaShonda, call (317) 297-4010. To schedule an
